Build Perch launches as a Windows 11 desktop app. macOS and Linux are on the roadmap, but not available yet.

We're finishing the Windows 11 release. The installer will be available on this page the moment it ships. In the meantime, the feature and security pages cover what's inside.
System requirements
- Operating system
- Windows 11, 64-bit (x64). Windows on Arm is not supported.
- Processor
- Any x64 CPU. AVX2 required for voice dictation and local transcription (standard on Intel Core CPUs since 2013 and all AMD Ryzen; a few budget Celeron/Pentium parts lack it).
- Memory
- 8 GB RAM; 16 GB recommended if running local models.
- Graphics
- None required by Build Perch. Models run through local Ollama have their own GPU requirements.
- Storage
- 500 MB free space (~420 MB installed; speech and search models included, no first-run downloads).
- Internet
- Required for trial start, license activation, and cloud models. Runs up to 30 days offline after activation; local models work offline.
- Model access
- One of: an OpenRouter API key (cloud models), Ollama (free local models), or an Ollama Cloud subscription.
- Local models (optional)
- Separate Ollama install, auto-detected. ~8 GB RAM for 7-8B models; dedicated GPU with matching VRAM for larger models (in-app VRAM fit hint).
- Dependencies
- WebView2 Runtime (in-box on Windows 11; the installer fetches it if missing), Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable.
